Lexus places first in Chinese study on automobile quality conducted by J.D. Power

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 5) - Lexus placed first on a recent study conducted by J.D. Power Asia-Pacific on automobile quality in China, the Guangzhou Daily reported today. Meanwhile, Dongfeng Honda ranked fifth in the listing, making it the highest ranked joint venture.

Lexus also placed first in a similar study on automobile quality conducted by J.D. Power's American branch. Following the Japanese manufacturer were Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi. Meanwhile, joint ventures Guangqi Honda and Beijing Hyundai placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Worth pointing out is that JV giants FAW-VW and Shanghai VW placed relatively low, ranking 16th and 17th respectively.

J.D. Power also conducted a study on automobile quality categorized by segment. A total of 215 models were evaluated. The Hyundai MoInCa, Hyundai Sonata and Dongfeng Yueda Kia K2 led the low-class luxury midsize, luxury midsize and entry-level midsize segments. Not to be outdone by their Korean rivals, Japanese manufacturers also performed well in the study. The FAW-Toyota RAV4, Dongfeng Honda Civic and Changan Suzuki Alto placed first in the SUV, midsize and compact segments. The BMW 7 Series, Shanghai GM Chevrolet Sail, Buick GL8 and SAIC-GM-Wuling Hongguang also led their respective segments.
