Gasgoo Munich- Lotus Technology announced on Aug. 25 that it has completed the full integration of its UK operations, Lotus UK. As of Aug. 21, 2026, the company formally holds 100% of Lotus UK, bringing sports car manufacturing in Hethel, Norfolk, and the Lotus Engineering consulting business under a single corporate entity.

The transaction followed shareholders Geely and Etika exercising put options. Headquartered in Hethel, Lotus UK carries the brand's 78-year heritage, encompassing sports car production and the globally renowned Lotus Engineering consultancy. The latter has long provided engineering services—including lightweight structures, aerodynamics, and chassis dynamics—to global automakers and Tier 1 suppliers.
"Lotus has one brand, one strategy, and from today, one business entity," said Feng Qingfeng, CEO of Lotus Group. The integration unites British sports car engineering and manufacturing with Lotus Technology's smart vehicle business under a single corporate structure, marking the end of the long-standing independent operation of the UK sports car business from its Chinese-backed parent.
The integration is a core component of the "Focus 2030" strategy unveiled in May 2026. The strategy outlines a three-track development path covering internal combustion, pure electric, and super hybrid technologies. It aims to unify the brand, streamline governance, reduce costs, and accelerate engineering integration for next-generation high-performance models. Previously, chassis development in Hethel and Lotus Technology's electric vehicle projects advanced separately; now, both will proceed under a unified plan.
Moving forward, Lotus Engineering's technical capabilities will be prioritized for Lotus's own products. The Hethel plant will continue producing the Emira and Evija models and will operate under the same management system as Lotus Technology's pure electric SUV and sedan projects.
