Nissan Motor, Japan's No.3 car maker, said on Monday it would halt part of its production in Japan for three days, affecting 15,000 units, due to a delay in supplies from Hitachi Ltd.
Nissan said it would halt production lines at its four factories in Japan from Wednesday after Hitachi said delivery of engine control units had been running behind schedule due to a delay in the supply of integrated circuits from a maker.
Nissan said production would return to normal next week and would run on schedule until summer holidays in August.
Hitachi said it supplies the same control units to two other Japanese automakers, adding that the delay could affect production of several thousand more units at those firms.
It declined to name those two companies.
