Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 30) - There have been 36 recalls in the first half of the year in China, Shanghai Securities News quoted statistics from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. A total of 672,989 vehicles have been recalled.
According to AQSIQ Spokesman Li Yuanping, 14 of the recalls were targeted at domestically made vehicles (affecting 628,487 vehicles), while 22 were for imports (44.502 vehicles). Mr. Li pointed out the Guangqi Toyota Camry (pictured), the Tianjin FAW-Toyota Reiz and other imported Toyotas as having the most serious faults, potentially leading to the wheel base decoupling, the braking system malfunction and other fatal situations. Kumho Tire-equipped vehicles tend to be another source of concern for the AQSIQ.
Mr. Li affirmed that the AQSIQ would do its best to uphold the Provisions on the Administration of Recall of Defective Auto Products protocols in conducting their work.
