The newly operational site, located in Chongchuan District, represents a total investment of $150 million and is positioned as a key manufacturing hub within TE's China operations. The facility is expected to play an important role in supporting local automakers and suppliers as demand for electrification and vehicle connectivity technologies continues to rise.

With a total floor area of approximately 39,900 square meters, the Nantong plant is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs locally. The facility will manufacture a range of automotive components, including high-voltage connectors for new energy vehicles and high-speed, high-frequency data connectors that support increasingly software-defined vehicle architectures. It also holds a unique position within TE's domestic manufacturing network as the company's only China-based production site capable of manufacturing both floating camera systems used in advanced driver-assistance applications and automotive-grade Type-C data cable products.

To support production of these technology-intensive products, the facility incorporates a fully integrated manufacturing process covering injection molding, precision equipment machining, and final assembly. The plant has also adopted TE's established Manufacturing Execution System (MES) framework and deployed a range of digital manufacturing technologies, including smart logistics systems, intelligent traceability solutions, and automated error-proofing capabilities designed to enhance production efficiency and quality consistency.

Sustainability considerations were integrated into the facility's design from the outset. Constructed in accordance with advanced energy-efficiency standards, the site incorporates photovoltaic power-generation systems and rainwater collection and recycling infrastructure. TE also said the manufacturing operation enables the recycling and reuse of most injection-molding materials, helping reduce waste generation while improving resource efficiency across production processes.

The opening of the Nantong facility comes as China's automotive industry accelerates its transition toward electrification, intelligent driving, and connected mobility. By combining advanced engineering capabilities, digitalized manufacturing systems, and low-carbon production practices, TE aims to strengthen its local supply capacity and responsiveness to customer demand. The company expects the new site to further enhance its ability to support China's new energy vehicle and smart vehicle ecosystems, while reinforcing its broader localization strategy in one of the world's most important automotive markets.
