Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 5) - The Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport has recently put out a study on attitudes toward traffic congestion, the Beijing Times reported earlier this week. 76.75 percent of participants doubted that the capital's traffic problems would be solved.
The survey was conducted over the course of half a month and ended last week. Only 22.96 percent of the respondents believed that there has been somewhat of a decrease in traffic congestion.
As far as which policies have gone further in easing traffic congestion, 28.09 percent of respondents believed that increased development of public transport facilities had the most effect. Meanwhile, the license registration policies unveiled earlier this year were believed to have the least effect, with only 7.04 percent of respondents selecting the option.
Wang Jiangyan, head of technology at the Bocheng Engineering Technology Company and traffic expert, believed that as the problem worsens, only more and more drastic measures would be able to gain public approval.
