Audi A4 to cease China production in Sept
Shanghai, August 20 (Gasgoo.com) Audi A4 is being upgraded globally. The existing Audi A4 will cease production in China from next month, and the number of imported Audi models for sale in the China market will increase correspondingly before the next generation goes on sale, Beijing Youth reported today, citing sources of FAW-VW’s Audi plant.
With the same sales strategy as Audi Q5, the imported Audi A4 will speed up to enter China, and meanwhile, the old A4 will sell out during the period. Now Audi A4 is selling with a discount between 20,000 yuan ($2,920) and 30,000 yuan, according to Audi dealers in Beijing.
By the beginning of 2009, FAW-VW will complete construction of a one billion-yuan assembly plant located in Changchun, which will produce the latest-generation Audi A4, Audi Q5 and other Audi models.
Audi AG has just announced the price of new four-door A4 in North America this month, with the 2.0 TFSI powered all-wheel drive edition priced at $32,700. And the A4 Avant house car sells for $34,500.
Chinese-made new A4 will be priced higher than the old one, close to 300,000 yuan, sources said.
