Shanghai. September 25 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese automaker FAW Haima Automobile Co will launch a new own-brand car in the A0 segment next year,  Beijing Youth Daily reported on Wednesday.

A director in charge of Haima's marketing operation said Haima is in no rush to develop high-end models but will stay focused on minicar segments in the next one or two years.

He added that the new model will be built at its production base in the southern China city of Haikou. The A0 class car will be powered by Haima's self-designed 1.6L and 1.3L engines.

Haima announced two production expansion plans earlier this month. After completion, the two new plants will triple Haima's annual car production capacity to 450,000 units.

Of the two plants, the Haikou base will concentrate on building A-segment cars first, then the B-segment car or SUVs in the future, while the Zhengzhou base will mainly produce minicars.
