Shanghai, October 6 (Gasgoo.com) The Chinese-made Chrysler 300C lineup now is on sale with a big discount, despite the higher sales tax on fuel-guzzling cars starting September, cheshi.net reported today, citing sources from Beijing Jidongtong Auto Co., Ltd which has taken over the Chinese-made Chrysler 300C.

The sales tax hike imposed on big-engine cars since September 1 has forced many automakers to increase the selling prices of vehicles above 3.0 L. Besides Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, the Chrysler 300C lineup is also included in the tax raise for fuel-guzzling cars.

Though the price of 300C has been raised, a big discount is also offered at the same time. The 2.7L 300C generally has a discount at between 15,000 yuan ($2186) and 20,000 yuan, and the price of the silver 2.7L 300C can be cut by 40,000 yuan. The price of the 5.7L 300C has been increased by 100,000 yuan in September, but currently the model can be bought with a discount of up to 150,000 yuan, sources of Beijing Jidongtong Auto Co., Ltd said.

Currently the 300C is sold at such a discount across the country and the discount will continue until the end of 2008. Due to weak sales and tax raise of big cars, the high-emission 300C is likely to cease production, sources of Chrysler 4S store said.
