Colorful Olympic cars to go on auction block
The vehicles that shuttled VIPSs around Beijing during the Olympic games are about to go on the auction block.
They were decorated with iconic images of Chinese culture, including
dragons, paper-cut patterns, the qipao dress and Peking Opera.

The cars are on exhibition near the National Stadium, or Bird's Nest. People in Beijing have been fascinated by the artistic elan of the vehicles. The patterns chosen for the vehicles were selected from 3200 submissions from art lovers around China.
The auction will be at the exhibition site, Saturday. 13 cars will go under the hammer. Starting price for the Volkswagen Beetles is 160,000 yuan. The reserve bid for the Volkswagen Golf GTI is 232,000 yuan.
