Porsche debuts new 911 Targa at Guangzhou show

Shanghai, November 19 (Gasgoo.com) After launching its Carrera lineup for a short time, Porsche is introducing the new 911 Targa to China during the Guangzhou auto show on Nov.18-25, autosina.com said yesterday.

Two new Targa models, 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S, will be priced at 1.515 million yuan ($22.21million) and 1.657 million yuan respectively. They will be available by the coming December in Porsche 4S stores around China.

It's been the second consecutive year for Porsche to display at the Guangzhou show, one of the most influential auto events in China.

"It's a great pleasure for me to unveil new 911 Targa at the Guangzhou Auto Show, whose growing influence encouraged us to bring the most stylish Porsche models to Chinese consumers, "said Helmut Broeker, managing director of Porsche China Sales Company. "Porsche saw emerging sales in China during 2007-2008 fiscal year ended in July, 2008, with a large increase compared to last year by delivering 7600 Porsche models," he added.

Both 911 Targa 4 and Targa 4S are mated with direct fuel injection technology, which increases the engine power, while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption. The new-generation Targa models will be available with the Porsche seven-speed double-clutch PDK transmission, an intriguing alternative to the previous Tiptronic S.

The 911 Targa 4 is powered by a new 3.6 liter flat-six engine, developing a maximum output of 345 horsepower for a top track speed of 176 mph. The 3.8 liter 911 Targa 4S engine delivers a maximum output of 385 horsepower that accelerates this exclusive sports car to a top track speed of 184 mph.

Other Porsche models, including Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 and Cayman S Sport,  are also displayed at the auto show. The two shining models have gone on sale in China, priced at 1.056 million yuan and 1.082 million yuan respectively.
