China-made Nissan X-Trail sells 2,600 units in Nov

Shanghai, December 22 (Gasgoo.com) The Nissan SUV model X-Trail made by the Japanese auto maker's Chinese joint venture Dongfeng Motor and launched to market on Nov. 3, achieved remarkable sales of 2,600 units last month, said sina.com today. The 2.0L and 2.5L versions of the new SUV sell in China for 220,000 yuan ($32,200) to 260,000 yuan.

The successful sales performance indicate that the robust look, dynamic character and superb functions of the locally made Nissan X-Trail SUV have been well received in the Chinese market. This is another success that testifies to Dongfeng Nissan's excellent brand, product and marketing appeals after its Qashqaito entered China’s Crossover segment triumphantly. 

The launch of the new SUV model marks Dongfeng Motor's entry into the top-tier passenger car manufacturers' group in China as it has now become a full-line auto maker with products covering all passenger car models, including MPVs, SUVs, sedans and crossovers. The Chinese-made Nissan X-Trail SUV has Dongfeng Honda CR-V as its main rival, especially in the pricing.

Currently, the joint venture is capable of producing 2,500 units of the X-Trail each month, and it is expected to exceed its sales target of 5,000 units by the end of the year, according to a company executive. The dynamic, muscular sporty features can win Nissan X-Trail many male customers in China.

In November, Dongfeng Nissan achieved sales of 33,417 passenger vehicles (PV), up 60% year on year (against the industry average drop of 16%) and become one of the top three automakers in China by PV sales in the month.

Nissan's X-Trail was launched in 2000 and since then has been sold in 167 countries, with sales of over 800,000 units.
