New Honda Accord 2.4LX sedan to sell on Jan 12

Shanghai, January 7 (Gasgoo.com) GAC Honda (former Guangzhou Honda) is set to launch its 2.4LX Accord sedan model as a new member of its eighth-generation 2.4L Accord series which were release last year, said xinhuanet.com today.

This new 2.4LX Accord model is derived from the 2.4L Accord, sharing the same car size, engine and transmission, and also weighing 1,515kg. However, the lamp design has become simple and cost-effective, with the lamp cleaning device and height control not included in the new Accord model.

In January 2008, GAC Honda released its 8th-gen Accord. Its sales in the third quarter exceeded those of its close rival Toyota Camry. But in September, GAC Toyota launched the 2009 Camry model, which since then has captured much market share from Honda Accord. GAC Honda expects to win potential buyers back by launching a new Accord with better price-performance.

The current 2.4L Accord sedan sells for 229,800 yuan. According to the sales staff of a GAC Honda 4S store, the new 2.4LX Accord will be priced at 221,800 yuan or so below the 2.4L Accord, given the simplfied lamp design and other factors.

The design concept of the eighth-generation Accord is "Advanced and Powerful", which means a perfect fusion of Honda's cutting-edge technologies and passionate dynamics to intepret the Japanese carmaker's global DNA contents.
