Shanghai, February 1 (Gasgoo.com) Fujian-based Southeast Motor, a Chinese venture of Mitsubishi Motors, said it is expanding its earlier recall of Mitsubishi Galant vehicles produced between Nov. 2, 2006 and April 3, 2007 to those made between Nov. 2, 2006 and Nov. 24, 2007, Fuzhou Daily reported.

The increased recall covers 3,630 Galant sedans. Southeast Motor previously recalled 8,570 Galant vehicles produced between Nov. 2, 2006 and April 3, 2007 due to pollution of the generator regulator chip from June 5, 2008 to Dec. 5, 2008.

The recall expansion is because suppliers mixed the defective chips into new products due to poor management, the automaker said.

The polluted generator regulator chips may result in generator failure and indicator lamp problem, which will lead to vehicles failing to launch or switching off during use.

To fix the problem, Southeast Motor will change the generator regulator of the involved vehicles for free.

The recall is expected to be conducted from Jan. 23, 2009 to April 23, 2009. Owners may contact Southeast Motor at 800—8581666 and 400—6611666 or via the Internet at www.qiche365.org.cn.
