China '08 auto import up 30% to 410,100 units

Shanghai, February 5 (Gasgoo.com) China imported 410,100 automobiles in 2008, up 30.53% year on year, xinhuanet.com said today, citing data released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

Data showed that last year, the number of imported vehicles rose 30.53% to 410,100 units. The imports were valued at $15.128 billion, up 41.65% year on year. The growth rate was almost at the same level as a year earlier.

Imported vehicles in the first half of 2008 posted a relatively better performance than those in the second half. Vehicle imports stood at 103,200 units in the first quarter and 109,600 units in the second quarter.

This figure fell to 98,100 units in the third quarter and 99,200 units in the last quarter.
