China export car makers reduced by 45 last year

Shanghai, February 18 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese carmakers with export business in 2008 decreased by 45 in 2008 from a year before, xinhuanet.com said, citing sources of China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery & Electronic Products, Automobile Branch (CCCME AUTO).

As Chinese auto exports dropped sharply in 2008 from five consecutive years' growth, China's carmakers who export their vehicles will face a reshuffle, the sources said.

Meanwhile, there were 21 auto companies with exports worth above $100 million last year, accounting for 50.6% of China's total automobile exports value in 2008. In 2007, this kind of auto companies only reached 14, taking 49.8% of the total value of exports.

Chinese carmakers that achieved good exports in 2008 include Chery Automobile Co, Honda Motor (China) Investment Co., China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Corp (Sinotruk), Great Wall Motor Company Limited, China First Automobile Group Imp. & Exp. Corporation, and King Long United Automotive Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.
