250,000 Changan-brand sedans to be sold in '10
Shanghai, March 31 (Gasgoo.com) Changan Auto has announced that it will launch more than 10 own-brand sedan models over the next five years, and aims to sell 250,000 Changan-brand sedans in 2010, xinhuanet.com reported today.
At the upcoming 2009 Shanghai auto show, Changan Auto will display its latest achievements in developing its own-brand auto products. In recent four years, the carmaker has spent 6 billion yuan ($878 million) in building seven sedan platforms, five mini vehicle platforms and three all-new engine platforms for its self-developed auto brand vehicles and engines that will capture the major market segments.
After ten years of hard work, Changan Auto has formed its comprehensive strategic plan for sedan development. In recent years, the Chinese carmaker has cooperated extensively with several European design firms in developing its own brand car models, and has set up a European design center in Italy.
Changan Auto expects its product lineup to focus on 1.6l and sub-1.6L models, which will account for 70% of Changan-brand sedans.
The company aims to sell 600,000 mini vehicles in 2009, adding 100,000 to its previous target. In the first two months of this year, Changan Auto sold about 120,000 mini vehicles, surging 50% year on year.
