Qingling Motors rolls out 100P China III light truck
Shanghai, March 31 (Gasgoo.com) Chongqing Qingling Motors has launched its 100P China III light-duty trucks to the domestic market, with the retail price starting from 86,000 yuan ($1.260), xinhuanet.com said today.
The 100P China III is positioned as a high-end light-duty truck but sells at the price of a mid-grade vehicle. This is likely to boost its competitiveness in the Chinese light truck market.
Based on Isuzu Motors' truck-making technology, the Qingling 100P China III light-duty truck features the upgraded fuel electric injection and control system to meet the China III emission standard. The truck only consumes 7 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, using 22% less fuel than its rival models. Its engine can be used for driving 300,000 kilometers with no big repair.
For many years, the high-, mid-, and low-end light trucks in the Chinese market have been priced around 100,000 yuan, 80,000 yuan and 50,000 yuan. In 2008, Qingling Motors gained 40% of China's high-end light truck market. The launch of its 100P China III light truck is expected to bring the carmaker larger market share.
In January 2008, Japanese commercial vehicle maker Isuzu Motors established a 50-50 joint venture -- Qingling-Isuzu (Chongqing) Sales Company -- with its first and long-term Chinese partner Chongqing Qingling Motors.
