Shanghai GM sells 117,000 vehicles in Q1

Shanghai, April 3 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai General Motors Co, GM's venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC), announced on Thursday that it sold 117,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2009, up 12.9 percent from the fourth quarter of 2008. No percentage change is provided compared with the first quarter of 2008.

Sales of Shanghai GM totaled 46,054 units in March, of which Buick continues to be the top selling brand for the automaker with 32,362 units sold.

Last year sales at Shanghai GM dropped 8.3 percent to 458,642 units last year from 2007, marking the first year-on-year sales decline for its Chinese passenger vehicle venture.
