Renault to import 10,000 Koleos to China from S.Korea

Shanghai, May 5 (Gasgoo.com) The Renault Executive Vice President Katsumi Nakamura has lately ordered Renault's South Korea factory to additionally provide 10,000 Koleos SUVs for the Chinese market in 2009, according to SinoCast Business Beat.

"Renault is poised to restarts its auto import strategy in China, which is one of the world's most important auto markets, " said Robert Chan, newly appointed president of Renault China.

Renault launched the Koleos and Laguna in China successively in recent two months, with orders for Koleos already totaling 800 units. Mr Chan expected Koleos sales to hit 2,000 units per month.

Moreover the automaker plans to launch 14 new passenger car models in China over the next few years.

This product offensive will help Renault with its expansion plans in the country, given that it sold only 870 vehicles in the Chinese market last year, and more than 30 dealers decided to withdraw from the business.
