BMW recalls 135 cars in China over airbag defects
BMW is recalling 135 of its 2008 BMW1-Series and 2008 BMW3-Series sedans in China because of airbag system defects, the country's quality supervisor said Friday.
The sedans, all imported, were produced between May 23, 2008 and July 21, 2008, said a statement released by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
There is a chance that some of the cars may have incorrect crimp connectors installed to the side airbag and seatbelt tension wire, said the statement.
This would result in the possible failure of the airbag or belt fastener in an accident.
BMW will conduct checks and maintenance free of charge.
