Hyundai Motor launches new EQUUS in Beijing

Shanghai, August 19 (Gasgoo.com) Hyundai Motor launched its new EQUUS sedan yesterday in Beijing to start the luxury car's release outside S. Korea, Gasgoo.com said. The car come with four luxury and premium versions, priced from 677,000 yuan ($99.100) to 910,000 yuan.

The new model measures 5,160mm x 1,890mm x 1,495mm, with a 3,045mm wheelbase, which is 205mm longer than the previous model. The new EQUUS is powered by the 4.6-lier V8Tau and 3.8-liter V6 Lambda engines for choice.

The EQUUS, the most expensive, largest sedan in the company's lineup, is a full-size luxury car to serves as the flagship model of Hyundai Motor. The well-equipped EQUUS is to rival global luxury models such as the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class, and Lexus LS.

Built on the same architecture as Hyundai's new Genesis sedan, the Equus is another step up in size, luxury, and pricing. It has been well received by domestic buyers since the car was launched in S. Korea in March.

After its overseas debut in China, the all-new EQUUS will be launched in the United States at the beginning of next year. The EQUUS has started its selling in China as imported cars. 

Hyundai Motor has not announced yet whether the EQUUS will be locally made for the Chinese market by Beijing Hyundai, its Chinese venture with Beijing Auto. The venture sold 257,003 cars in the first half of this year, up 56% year on year, and 43,813 units in July, up 172.6% y/y.
