Car maker BMW plans to build two new Mini models at its plant near Oxford, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.

In an interview with the newspaper, the car maker's CEO Norbert Reithofer said the move would entail new jobs and investments at the facility, which is operating close to its capacity of 200,000 to 220,000 cars a year, the newspaper said.

The plant near Oxford employs 3,500 people and is one of the largest in the country.

The CEO did not comment on potential job increases in the UK or a production time-table for the new Minis.
