Shanghai, September 22 (Gasgoo.com) At the ongoing Chengdu motor show, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen has launched the Peugeot 307 model, which marks the foray of the Peugeot 307 series into China's medium-class vehicle market, gasgoo.com said today.

The joint venture aims to sell 20,000 units of the new Peugeot 307 model in the remainder of this year. The Peugeot 307 sedan sells at a price between 106,800 yuan ($15,640) and 146,800 yuan, and the Peugeot 307 hatchback is priced at 103,800-153,800 yuan.

To sell 6,000 units of the new Peugeot 307 on average in each of the next three months may be a big challenge to Dongfeng Peugeot, but its upgraded configurations and low prices will help reach this sales target, the company's new leaders said.

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile (DPCA) decided in July to suspend the project of setting up its third plant in central China's Wuhan city as the joint venture's current two plants have not operated to the full capacity yet.

DPCA, as a joint venture between PSA Peugeot Citroen and Dongfeng Motor Corp, now has an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles. Its second plant will go into operation soon with an annual output of 150,000 units.
