Mazda aims to sell 1.3 mln vehicles in FY10 - Nikkei
Japan's Mazda Motor Corp is aiming to sell about 1.3 million vehicles worldwide in the current fiscal year, up 10 percent on the year, the Nikkei business daily said.
The paper said though the automaker expects global sales to come in slightly below 1.3 million units, it is ready to raise the target, depending on demand, to return to the levels achieved before the global financial crisis.
Mazda will introduce its mainline Demio subcompact in the United States, and will expand its lineups in China to include minivans, the daily said.
The firm plans to produce about 850,000 autos in Japan this fiscal year, an increase of 30,000 from its fiscal 2009 plan, the paper said.
Its main Hiroshima factory will operate in two shifts starting this summer, and it will add 100 temporary workers, bringing the total staff at the site to 340, the Nikkei said.
