Shanghai, May 13 (Gasgoo.com) Nissan Motor plans to launch its fourth-generation March minicar to the Chinese market in August this year, and its China venture Dongfeng Nissan, local maker of this car, hopes to sell 6,000 units of the Nissan March per month, China Car Times reported today.

The 1.5-liter Nissan March is the first small car that Dongfeng Nissan have introduced when global automakers are expanding into the small car segment while China's domestic manufacturers are foraying into the premium car segment dominated by global brands.

An executive of Dongfeng Nissan previously said the company would introduce the Nissan March in the original for Chinese production but it's also possible to modify or revamp some parts of the small car to meet the needs of Chinese buyers.

The Nissan car's chief engineer said at the recent Beijing auto show that the March minicar is mainly targeted at young people and will be equipped with Nissan's newly developed 4-cylinder Nissan engine.

In China's small-car market, the Nissan March will compete with the Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta, Ford Fit and Chevrolet Sail. It is likely to be priced around 80,000 yuan ($11,700).
