Shanghai, May 27 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng-Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company will break ground on its passenger car engine project next month, its vice manager Li Chunrong, told Daily Economic News recently.

With a designed capacity of 360,000 sets, Dongfeng-Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company plans to produce both 1.4L and 2.4L engines for the entire engine project in order to meet the future product line-up of Dongfeng Motor's passenger car program initiated since 2004, said Li, who is yet to disclose the investment amount of the project.

The company will launch products based on displacement of the engines. The previous Dongfeng S30 and H30 cars share a C-Class platform. In the future, the mid- and high-class sedans with 2.0L to 2.4L engines will be built on a D-Class platform, while the compact sedans with 1.3L to 1.5L engines will be using a B-Class platform, Li said.

Under the company's plan, after completing the above three platforms, 1.6L models will account for 40% of the overall models, and 2.0L models, 18%; 1.3L-1.5L models, around 20%.

Reportedly, Dongfeng Fenshen sales were 12,000 units in the first four months this year, with average monthly sales reaching 3,000 units.
