Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 8) - Sales of Mazda vehicles reach 18,634 last month, China Business News reported today, citing statistics from the manufacturer's Chinese branch. The figure represents growth of 1 percent from May of 2010.

The fate of Mazda's two Chinese joint ventures last month varied significantly, with FAW-Mazda's sales volume (11,508 units) having grown slightly from last year, while Changan Mazda sold only 7,126 vehicles, a decrease of 3 percent from 2010.

Mazda sold a total of 86,319 vehicles in China since the beginning of the year. Yamada Noriaki, chairman and CEO of Mazda China, said that, in light of the recent natural disasters' adverse influence on its supply chain, he was content with the sales result.
