FAW-VW may give precedence to its Audi brand

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 11) - With its production supply been under constant pressure, FAW Volkswagen will be giving precedence to the Audi brand in the coming months, the Beijing News reported today.

FAW-VW has been putting its staff on overtime in order to keep up with rising customer demand. According to JV President Hu Yong, production at FAW-VW's Changchun production site has increased from 660,000 vehicles per year to 1 million vehicles since the command for overtime was issued.

It is been reported that sources in FAW-VW have discussed the option of giving precedence to its Audi brand, which is pulling in a greater and greater amount of the JV's sales. Directory of Public Relations Gong Xingbo denied hearing the news before. Audi looks forward to compete directly with BMW for the luxury market, with its June sales in China hitting 27,000 units, a new monthly record.

FAW-VW's predicted sales volume in Beijing for the remainder of the year has been downplayed by 8,000 vehicles, with dealers' sales targets decreased by 30 to 35 percent.
