New Changan SUV to make debut next year

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 8) - Changan's brand new own made SUV, codenamed E301, will be making its debut next July, the Beijing News reported today. The new SUV will be facing fierce competition with upcoming entries from other domestic makers.

According to sources from within the manufacturer, the new SUV will be based on the E301 concept (pictured), which made its debut on the floor of the Auto Shanghai 2009 show. The car number has also shown up on Changan's official website before, leading many to believe that the probability of the new SUV coming out is quite high. The E301 includes gull-wing doors and seamless transition between its front and side windows.

Although the E301 is still in the planning phase, the concept vehicle's over-exaggerated elements are reportedly planned to be excised from the final moment. The E301 will come equipped with either 1.6 L or 2.0 L natural gas engines, with a turbocharged motor option also a possibility.
