Changan Suzuki's second factory to be located in Chongqing

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 21) - Participating in the Chengdu Motor Show under its slogan of "Way of Life," Changan Suzuki announced that its 5 billion yuan ($784m) factory will be located in Chongqing, xkb.com.cn reported today.

The new site will have an annual production target of 250,000 vehicles and 300,000 motors after full completion in 2015. 

Changan Suzuki looks set to expand its user base to cover third- and fourth-tier cities, as well as increasing the number of maintenance centers to help maximize user experience. The joint venture managed Chinese sales of 118,000 vehicles so far this year, 15 percent higher than during the same time period last year.

Changan Suzuki Marketing and Promotion Director Tang Qing said that the JV would seek to try its best to stabilize its superior position in the market by attaining its annual sales goal of 230,000 vehicles. The JV's current factory, also located in Chongqing, has an annual production capability of only 200,000 vehicles, meaning that the new factory may have to pick up the slack.
