FAW-VW new factory to begin production before end of the week

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 11) - FAW Volkswagen's third sedan factory in Sichuan's capital of Chengdu will officially begin production on Thursday, the Changchun Evening News reported today. The new factory will have a production time of 60 seconds per unit and produce 350,000 vehicles a year. The news comes in wake of the joint venture's 20th anniversary.

After completion, the new factory will help satisfy the demands for West China, as well as aid in FAW-VW's plans to manufacture one million automobiles. The site will integrate auto parts and logistics centers into its supply chain to help speed up production. In addition, FAW-VW's new EA211 engine program will focus around the production site.
