Audi's import division to remain part of FAW-VW, JV sales division president says

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 19) - Zhang Xiaojun, head of Audi sales for FAW-VW, has denied recent rumors that Volkswagen will be purchasing the joint venture's Audi import division, the Beijing Times reported today. According to Mr. Zhang, the FAW-VW's import division is doing as well as ever, and there are currently no plans to separate it from the JV.

According to Mr. Zhang (pictured above), any rumors regarding the JV's import business are untrue. FAW-VW Audi's import and domestic businesses will develop simultaneously, Mr. Zhang said. Sales of imported Audis in the first ten months of the year, near 46,000 units, were 75 percent higher than in 2010. Audi's coverage of the Chinese import market grew from 14 percent to 18 percent. Sales of the newly introduced Audi A1 (pictured below) in its first month on the market have already exceeded 500 units.

Over 251,000 Audis, both imported and domestically produced, were sold since the beginning of the month.
