1000 Dongfeng Nissan electric cars to be built

China Daily - The signing ceremony for the Dalian electric vehicle demonstration project, jointly promoted by Dalian city and Dongfeng Motor, was held at Bangchuidao Hotel on June 24, 2012 in Dalian. With the landing of the Dongfeng Nissan automotive project in Dalian bonded area, new energy vehicle technology will be brought into the city.

According to the cooperation agreement, Dongfeng Nissan will produce 1,000 Venucia electric vehicles for public use in Dalian before 2015. Wang Min, secretary of the Liaoning committee of the Communist Party of China, and Chen Zhenggao, governor of Liaoning province, attended the signing ceremony and met with Xu Ping, president of the Dongfeng Nissan.

Wang Min said that the equipment manufacturing industry plays an important role in pushing the optimization and upgrade of industry structure and speeding up the transformation of economic development in the province., With the constant improvement of the overall level of the automotive industry and the advancement of the auto supporting industries and technological innovations, the industry has been on a good momentum of development.

Wang said that he hopes that Dongfeng Motor will continue to enlarge its investment in Liaoning province and expand the breadth and depth of cooperation with Liaoning. Wang said that local government will further improve its service efficiency to create a better environment for investors and realize a win-win development with local enterprises.

Xu Ping appreciated the strong support provided by the Liaoning province and Dalian city. Xu added that Dongfeng Motor will seize opportunities to enhance the construction of its projects in Dalian and speed up Dongfeng Motor's development in Dalian and Liaoning province at large.

Li Wancai, mayor of Dalian, said that the energy conservation and new energy vehicle industry represented by electric vehicles is one of the seven strategic and emerging industries of the "12th Five-Year Plan". Dalian has become one of the first "Ten City and Thousand Vehicle Project Demonstration Cities" and a "Pilot City for Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicle Demonstration and Popularization" in China.

Li said that the project is not only conducive to the rapid growth of the Dongfeng Nissan electric vehicle brand, but also has a great impact on Dalian's transformation as an eco-friendly and livable city.

According to the agreement, Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor, will provide research and development support to the development of Dalian's new energy automotive industry.

The Dalian municipal government will foster the construction of the infrastructure of electric vehicles and work out incentive policies to encourage the promotion of new energy vehicles.

The Dongfeng Nissan automotive project started in the Dalian Bonded Zone on Nov 23, 2011. This is the third automotive project and the first joint venture automotive brand ever introduced into the zone. The Chery and Huanghai automotive projects in the zone are expected to yield a total of 350,000 energy saving and new energy vehicles annually after being put into operation.

In the future, the Zone will be built into an export-oriented and new energy-directed automotive industry base in Northern China focusing on the research and development of domestic automotive brands.
