Over 340 Mazda MPVs recalled in China
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai November 27) - Mazda China has begun a recalling Mazda MPVs in China over this past weekend, auto.ifeng.com reported today. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has already received the recall notice, which will target LC85 and LE89 models manufactured between March 1999 and January 2004. The recall will affect a total of 348 vehicles in the country.
Due to a design flaw in the targeted Mazda MPVs (pictured), air conditioning coolant might leak into the minivan's interior and potentially seep into the airbag compartments. This in turn may dampen electronic circuitry, potentially preventing the airbags from operating normally.
Mazda China will repair the air conditioning systems of all recalled Mazda MPVs, as well as inspect their airbag compartments to ensure there are no problems. The manufacturer has already begun notifying vehicle owners, who can also go to FAW Mazda and Changan Ford Mazda for free inspections and repair work.
