Geely to release pure electric EC7 in 2014

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 22) - Geely has announced a new pure electric version of its EC7 luxury car, the Nanfang Daily reported today. The pure electric EC7 is scheduled to make its simultaneous domestic and foreign market debuts next year.

According to Geely Group Vice President Feng Qingfeng, the pure electric EC7 (pictured) will be based on the technological advancements made by the manufacturer and its international partners. Geely is also making use of electric vehicle technology acquired from Volvo.

The pure electric EC7's power system is designed for two driving distances, a medium distance of 165 km and a long distance of 258 km. The EC7's 150 kW engine is able to accelerate from a standing start to 100 km in less than seven seconds and can reach a maximum speed of over 200 km/h. The battery can reach an 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes and can reach a full charge in less than four hours.

The EC7 will be backed with a warrantee providing coverage up to three years or 30,000 km, while its power system and battery will be covered up to five years or 50,000 km. It is designed to adhere to five star C-NCAP standards.
