Chinese Automobile Market Sales of Jan Increase 6% over Last Year, Passenger Car Top 10 Sales Companies List Comes Out

On Feb 13, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers publishes automobile companies production and sales statistics of Jan 2014. Last month, Chinese automobile sales has increased 6%, passenger car sales has increased 7%, growth is obviously slow down compared with 2013 market performance.

According to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in Jan 2014, Chinese automobile sales are 2.16 million, which has increased 1.04% over last month, and 5.99% over last year did. The figure has hit the record high for single month sales, which are 22.2 thousand more than record high which happened in Dec last year. Automobile production is 2.05 million, which has declined 4.03% over last month, and 4.44% over last year did.

Passenger car sales of Jan is 1.85 million, which has increased 3.93% over last month performance, and 7.03% over last year did. Passenger car production is 1.71 million, which has declined 4.02% compared with last month, and 5.52% over last year did. However, commercial car sales are 309.5 thousand, which has declined 13.36% over last month performance, and only 0.18% growth over last year did. Production is 341.1 thousand, which has declined 4.11% over last month did, and 0.64 decline over last year did.

Comparing with different type of passenger car, four passenger car types perform differently over last month. MPV growth is leading others. Compared with the same period of last year, Crossover decline is obviously again. Others, MPV and SUV growth is relatively rapid.

Last year, Chinese automobile industry growth is as high as 13.87%, total sales are 22 million. But the growth slows down since Jan this year. According to CAAM that Chinese owned passenger car brands market share decline obviously.

In Jan 2014, top 10 sales passenger car companies are: Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai GM, FAW Volkswagen, Beijing Hyundai, Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen, Ford, DYK, Chongqing Changan and Geely. Sales respectively are: 168.6 thousand, 147.2 thousand, 143.3 thousand, 88.8 thousand, 64.6 thousand, 58.5 thousand, 53.1 thousand, 46.5 thousand, 39.8 thousand and 30.7 thousand.

Compared with Dec 2013, Dongfeng Nissan and Geely sales decline most obviously. Changan Ford slightly declines. Others growth are all more than 20%, which perform well. Compared with the same period of last year, Geely sales declines most obviously, Dongfeng Nissan decline just better than Geely. Others are with certain growth. Shanghai Volkswagen and Changan Ford grow fast. In Jan, the above 10 companies sell 841.1 thousands cars, which takes 70.34% of passenger car entire sales.
