BMW (China) sales growth saw 750% in the last 5 years
Recently, the BMW Group chairman Dr Norbert Reithofer presented at the Shanghai Automobile Show and introduced China's BMW sales in recent years.
"In March, BMW sold 3,600 units in China, MINI and Rolls-Royce had an increase of 31%. In the first quarter, sales in China reached more than 10,100 units, an increase of 34.2%. First quarter sales proved again that China is a market with huge potential. Over the past five years, only BMW brand sales in China increased over 750%."
Currently, BMW brand cars in the China luxury market accounts for about 20% share. "We plan to increase the sales in Asia to 150,000 next year. The continuing success of China's sales will make a significant contribution to achieve the goal. Reithofer said that for BMW Group, China's market is very important, which will develop into one of the most important automobile markets in the world."
"The concern about global climate change is ever increasing, not only in Europe and the United States, but also in China. We need to design more energy-efficient, more environmental friendly vehicles to meet this challenge. For example, since 1990, BMW fuel consumption has dropped nearly 30% in Germany.
Targeting hydrogen as an alternative fuel is an important part of BMW's long-term strategy for the future.
