KIA Rio challenging Hyundai Accent
Dongfeng KIA announced yesterday that bread-and-butter model RIO was launched with Chinese name "Qianlima".
RIO has two models: 1.4L and 1.6 L between 718,000 and 1188,000 RMB. Mr. Choi Chon Kee, general manager of Dongfeng KIA who was just appointed said the sales volume of "Qianlima" was over 200,000 units totally. RIO was named after "Qianlima" with the intention of boosting this famous brand further in China though RIO and "Qianlima" were different models with different target groups.
Dongfeng KIA Rio intended to challenge Accent, Lova and Guangzhou Honda City models with a maintenance warranty of either 5 years or 100,000 Km for the engine and gearbox of non-business vehicles.
