Brilliance turnaround expected in Q2
News from Brilliance Motors said that Brilliance Motors (China) is hopeful in recording a surplus in the second quarter.
Brilliance Motors said the group is confident it will be profitable this year and it is optimistic that the Chinese automaker Brilliance will make a turnaround in the second quarter of 2007.
In recent years, Brilliance Motors has been closing in on its losses. The Group financial report shows that it was running business at a loss of about 704 million Hong Kong dollar in 2006, and 1.245 billion Hong Kong dollars in 2005. There are two factors that turn its losses to profit: firstly, the rapid growth of its local brand which is taking up more market share, secondly, sales of its joint venture Brilliance BMW is continuing its upward trend.
"To date, Brilliance BMW's total sales reached 13,500 units, an increase of 67% y-o-y, sales of the second quarter has outrun that of the first. “Brilliance BMW Public Affairs General Manager Ma Jinghua said yesterday, "Brilliance sales were 6634 units in the first quarter, increased 43% y-o-y."
