BYD to launch its first electric car in three years
BYD's electric car F3e has been successfully developed and is currently being tested on the road, according to BYD officials. Since the beginning of this year, BYD has been working on its plan to set up a network of electric recharge stations across the country. The plan has mostly been confirmed, and BYD has built three electric recharge stations in Shenzhen as trials. BYD forecasts that in three years time, BYD will be able to commercialize its first electric car F3e and reach an annual production of 50,000 units.
According to BYD Sales Company's General Manager, Xia Zhibing, the F3e is a fully electric powered car with no fuel required and it is ready to hit the road after being charged. It takes between 5 to 6 hours to charge the vehicle and a fully charged F3e can travel up to 350km. Alternatively, a 15 minutes express re-charge can fill the battery by 70% to 80%, at the expense of reduced travel range. The F3e is expected to reach a maximum speed of 140-150 km/hr. In addition, he claims that this environmentally-friendly car causes neither air nor noise pollution.
Apart from its powertrain, this electric car will be produced based on its previous mass-produced fuel models. After the launch of F3e, the F6e and F8e are expected to follow suit.
