FAW to reshuffle China's heavy truck market
China FAW Group, the 385th largest company on fresh Fortune 500 list, will launch its new Jiefang truck in mid-July and open the new production facility to meet the rising demand. All efforts reflect FAW's decision to reshuffle China's heavy truck market.
Jiefang J6, the sixth generation product of the Jiefang lineup, is independently churned by FAW, at the expense of seven years' devolopment and tens of billion Yuan. This heavy-duty truck is significant to FAW, as it employs all the world-class technologies including transmissions produced by FAW Eatun, axles using the advanced technology of Nissan Diesel.
Construction of FAW's new truck production facility is due to start on the same day as the new model. FAW invests 1.45 billion Yuan into the new factory, planning to improve the technics of welding, coating and assembling. The new production base is located westward of the old one, while the annual capacity could reach 100,000 units.
FAW has 27 wholly owned subsidiaries and controlling interest in 20 partially owned subsidiaries. Among these are two joint ventures---FAW-Volkswagen Automobile and Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor. FAW Jiefang Truck Co. Ltd. and Fawer Automobile Parts Co. Ltd., Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co. Ltd. and so on are also part of FAW Group's subsidiaries.
FAW Group also has its self-developed luxury Hongqi brand, which has been recognized as one of the Chinese leading luxury car brands since its introduction in 1958.
