Dodge seeks opportunities in China
"This is a special moment to announce that Dodge will be introduced into China," said Simon Elliott, CEO of Chrysler China at the 12th Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year.
The first model of Dodge will be Caravan, which will be built at a plant co-established by Daimler Chrysler and Southeast Motors. Caravan will be launched to the market by the end of this year, company official said.
"We've been thinking about that for several years," said the CEO, “Caravan has been a best selling model for 23 years in U.S. market, and we are sure it will succeed in China."
Avenger and Caliber are the two models to be introduced in China. Avenger is a mid segment sedan while Caliber is a compact sedan. However industry analysts are worried whether the two models could be succeed in the Chinese competitive market.
