General Motors (China) confident to sell one million cars this year

Shanghai. September 14 (Gasgoo.com) - The General Motors Corp (China) president and CEO, Kevin Wale, said he was confident the company could sell one millinon cars in China this year.

Kevin Wale made the statement in the opening ceremony of SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile's engine facility earlier this week.

In the first half this year, Shanghai GM sold 225,214 vehicles and SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile sold 269,673 vehicles.
 
With a total investment of 2 bln yuan (US$266 mln), the new engine plant in Liuzhou, Guangxi province of Southwest China, is the largest single project invested by SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile.

The engine plant is designed to produce 300,000 engines annually. Meanwhile, Shen Yang, general manager of SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile, said his company plans to build another engine plant with a similiar annual output in Qingdao, Shandong province in 2009.
