Chinese complaints per vehicle go up; transmission becomes a focus of attention

Shanghai, November 15 (Gasgoo.com)-A recent survey conducted by China Association for Quality finds that Chinese car-owners complaints are going up in the third quarter this year and many complaints are tied to problems connected to vehicle transmission system.
 
The survey conducted in the third quarter this year said complaints on vehicle quality problems represent 65.7% of the total while complaints on poor services represent 34.3%.
 
Of all quality complaints, engine and transmission failures, which lead to vehicle breakdowns and repairs, account for 23.2% and 20.3% respectively. Other problems connected to vehicle accessories represent 14.2%, braking system 10.2%, air conditioning 11.9%, tires 8.5%, clutch 5.2%, and steering system 4.2%.
 
Similarly, J.D. Power, a U.S.-based vehicle performance evaluation organization also said in an annul report that in Chinese home-made vehicles, engine and transmission system is most vulnerable to customer complaints.
 
The J.D. Power report finds, 63.5% of the Chinese car-owners' complaints are tied to problems connected to transmission and engine system, vehicle exterior and driving experience. While in the U.S., similar complaints account for 44%.
 
J.D. Power's report also shows that new vehicles and compact cars are more vulnerable to quality complaints. For China's home-made new vehicles, 202 problems have been identified with 100  vehicles. While 363 problems have been identified with 100 compact vehicles, which is about 80% higher than industry average.
