GAC Group completed the development of core enabling technologies for driverless vehicles

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 29^th)– GAC Group announced on June 26th that the company will achieve its goal of driverless vehicles in multiple steps and introduce as many as 20 alternative energy models by the year of 2020.

Zhangfang, President at GAC Group, told reporters during the 2016 Annual Meeting of the New Champions held by the World Economic Forum, which is also called the Summer Davos, that he is bullish on the future of alternative energy vehicles, mainly for two reasons. First, China is expected to be the biggest global market for alternative energy vehicles and will witness rapid demand growths. Secondly, Chinese government has introduced several preferential policies to accelerate the development of alternative energy vehicles.

Under this background, GAC Group acts promptly to accelerate its development of alternative energy vehicles with a focus on pure battery vehicles, and plans to introduce as many as 20 alternative energy models by 2020.

In addition to that, the carmaker has also put efforts in the development of cutting edge technologies including driverless vehicles. By now, GAC group has completed the development of the core enabling technologies of driverless vehicles and demonstrated its extended-range driverless pure battery concept on several auto shows in China as well as the North American International Auto Show.

GAC Group is currently building a new platform that underpins the future development of driverless and clean alternative energy vehicles. In the future, GAC Group’s alternative energy vehicles will also serve as a distributed energy storage solution to balance the power grid. Besides, this carmaker is also building an energy management and control system that integrates new energy power generations, including wind and solar, energy storage, intelligent grid and EV charging, in a bid to develop a new solution to meet alternative energy vehicles’ charging demands.
