Shanghai. November 26 (Gasgoo.com) - Geely Automobile Holdings said its exports would more than double in 2008 as a result of a deal signed to sell vehicles in Russia, the South China Morning Post reported.

The automaker has unveiled plans to sell 20,000 units this year and it aims to sell 40,000 units by 2008, the report said. Earlier last week Geely has signed a contract with Russian sales organisation the Rolf Group to try to sell up to US$1.5bil worth of cars in Russia over the next five years,

Geely expects to sell an average 30,000 cars in Russia per year starting November 2007, which executive director Lawrence Ang said would not present huge problems given that Chinese carmakers had been selling within the country for years.

Geely currently exports vehicles to the Ukraine, the Middle East, and Latin America, and is also hoping to enter the United States and Western Europe by 2009.
