Shanghai. November 27 (Gasgoo.com) - The 2008 Honda Accord will come to Chinese market early next year, Eiji Okawara, Operating Officer of Guangzhou Honda Automobile, announced during the Guangzhou Auto Show earlier in the month.

Okawara estimated Honda will sell half a million Honda Accord model vehicles in Chinese market by 2013, when China will catch up with the United States in automobile sales.

"This model reflects the best automotive technology that Honda can provide; it represents a new level of Honda Accord’s 31 years history,” said Fu Shoujie, deputy executive chief officer of Guangzhou Honda. “We are confident that we can take back the No.1 position in China’s mid and high-end segment market.”

In response to Fu’s statement, Yuan Zhongrong, deputy executive chief officer of Guangzhou Toyota declared that Toyota Camry’s standing in China’s middle and high-end segment is “unshakeable.”

Toyota Camry has remained best selling model in middle and high-end segment of Chinese sedan market over the eleven months.

"It’s not easy for any models that intend to approach or beat Camry in Chinese market,” Fu said. “It needs a synergy of excellence in terms of design, quality, output capacity and sales networks; it goes far beyond one or two breakthroughs in technology or design.”

In the first ten months of the year, Guangzhou Toyota 136,910 Camry vehicles in Chinese market, up 314.9 percent from one year earlier. By contrast, Guangzhou Honda sold 100,207 Accord vehicles in the same period, up 2.4 percent from one year earlier.
