Shanghai. November 27 (Gasgoo.com) - Mitsubishi plans to introduce six new vehicle models to Chinese market next year in order to achieve the 20,000 sales target of imported vehicles, local Chinese newspaper reported.

Citing an unnamed Mitsubishi official, Chongqing Business News said the automaker will introduce the fourth generation Pajero V97 and 2.4L Outlander EX to Chinese market this year; it will introduce 3.8L three-door Pajero next March, 2.0L Lancer and 2.4L Eclipse sports vehicles by the second half of next year, and those two models will be followed by Lancer Evolution X.

Earlier Mitsubishi Chairman Yorihiko Kojima said the company is also expanding sales networks in China. "We plan to increase the number of franchised dealers to 73 by the end of this year or early next year, and ten more dealers will be added in 2008," Kojima said.

The Japanese automaker, dwarfed by Toyota, Honda and Nissan in China, vows to win more Chinese consumers by introducing new models and building sales network. Industrial insiders, however, forecast it would take time for the automaker to recover its brand image which has been hurt by quality concerns.
