China's Big Three automakers grab 47% of domestic market

Shanghai. January 14 (Gasgoo.com) – China’s three biggest automakers, SAIC Group, FAW Group and Dongfeng Group have sold 4.13 million vehicles in 2007, which represents 47 percent of Chinese automobile market, China’s state media Xinhua News Agency said.
 
In 2007, SAIC group sold 1.55 million vehicles, up 25.11 percent from one year earlier; FAW Group sold 1.43 million vehicles, up 23.19 percent and Dongfeng Group sold 1.13 million vehicles, up 21.98 percent.
 
The sales data show SAIC Group holds 17.68 percent of China’s total automobile market; FAW Group holds 16.33 percent and Dongfeng Group holds 12.94 percent.
 
In passenger vehicle sales, the Big Three has sold a combined volume of 3.44 million vehicles last year, which represents 55 percent of China’s passenger vehicles market. In commercial vehicles, the Big Three has sold a combined volume of 688,300 vehicles, which accounts for 28 percent of China’s commercial vehicle market.
 
Also in 2007, China’s top ten biggest automakers sold a combined volume of 7.33 million vehicles, which represents 83 percent of China’s automobile market.
